![]() Content Intro Chapter One: The Gem Chapter Two: Meeting Osman Marius hid as Lumbridge got attacked again. He and his father hid under the trapdoor that was under a rug. He heard above as the constant rumble of horses thundered on and on. When the sounds finally stopped, they waited for another hour before emerging. Every year, knights in shining Adamantite armor attacked the small village of Lumbridge. As he hid under the trapdoor with his father, Marius, year after year, always pondered why the knights would unleash a terror over Lumbridge. Here is the story that explains the reason why. Why the knights always attacked. Always left chaos. Here is the story about Marius developing further, further… into believing what is right and wrong… Here is his story… Marius headed near Lumbridge castle to take care of the goblins there. He killed the goblins with ease, with his 2-handed sword forged from the finest steel available, and his steel armor glittering in the sun with his legendary Ruby Amulet that seemed to strengthen his attacks against the goblins. Marius returned home from his workout. His father, the priest of the small church in Lumbridge, was delighted to see his son growing into a fine warrior. Why, only last month, he got rid of the pesky ghost in the graveyard. He watched as Marius put his 2-handed sword onto a church bench, sat down, took off his heavy steel large helmet, and wiped the sweat off his face. “I'm going to go take a bath,” Marius said. “Suit yourself,” said the priest. As the priest saw his son head out to his house, the priest saw a figure emerge from behind him. The figure was robed in all black, with the hood covering his face. The sleeves of his robe covered his hands, and a white aura seemed to emit from him. “It’s time,” said the figure. “Already? I think it’s too soon…” The priest walked toward a bench and sat. The mysterious figure followed suit. “Why should I go?” The figure adjusted himself to his seat. “He thinks you have fulfilled your destiny. Besides, you have the boy to take over.” “Okay. I’ll go. But let me talk to my boy one last time.” “Take your time.” The figure sat down and appeared to be thinking. The priest walked toward his son’s house and saw his son emerge from the bathroom. “Son, I have to talk to you.” “What’s up?” Marius said. “If you may, follow me,” said the priest. He walked to the church. When they reached the church, Marius saw the figure sitting on the bench, hood over his head. I have seen very strange things in my life, but never this strange… Marius thought as his father sat down next to the figure. “Sit down, Marius,” the priest said. Marius, hesitant, sat near his father but not right next to the figure. “Um, dad-“ “Marius, this is the angel of death, sent by Saradomin. I think you do know why he is here?” “Um…” “He’s here to take me away.” Marius’s eyes widened as he realized the fate of his father. “No! No!!! I won’t let you!!!!” “It must be done, Marius.” The angel sat quietly, waiting for the argument to end. “No! I won’t let…! Don’t!!!!” Marius turned to the angel, “This is all your fault!!! Eeeeyargh!!!” Marius jumped at the angel, but the moment Marius touched him, he was blasted away. Marius gasped for breath as his father approached him. “One more thing, Marius,” said the priest. “There is something I need to give you.” He reached into his robe and pulled out a fine, but small, gem. He put it in Marius’s hands and closed them. “This is why the knights attack Lumbridge every year. They seek this gem. This gem represents power. If the forces of Zamorak get this, you can imagine a time of slavery over this entire world and its people. Keep this gem and take it to my friend Osman in Al Kharid. He will know what to do. Take it. Take it and run!” Marius took the gem and kissed his father for the final time. He stared at him and hugged him, then started crying. “I’ll never forget you, father,” he said in a mournful voice. “That’s okay, that’s ok…. Now you go….” The priest backed away, as the angel covered him with his robe, and they both disappeared into thin air. Marius still was crying, but he wiped his face and went to put on his armor, and went toward the desert city that was Al Kharid. Marius had reached the border gate. He came up to the guard but the guard held up his hand. “Where do you think you’re going?” “I am headed to Al Kharid. I am told goods are sold there,” said Marius wisely. “You shall only pass with 10 gold pieces,” the guard said. Marius took out his bag of money, and handed the guard 10 gold pieces. “You may pass,” the guard said. The gate opened and Marius passed on through. He followed the gray stone road until he reached Al Kharid, the desert city. As he made his way, he spoke to Al Kharid’s citizens in search of Osman. “Do you know where Osman is?” He would ask. “No,” they always replied. He kept doing this until he reached a fellow with a hood over his head; the hood partially covered his face. “Excuse me,” said Marius. “Do you know where Osman is?” “Yes.” “Great! Can you tell me?” “I am he,” said Osman. He took off his hood and revealed himself. “And you are?” “Um…. I’m Marius, the son of the priest of Lumbridge.” “Ah, you are Gaur’s son,” said Osman. “And what brings you here?” “He has been taken away from me, by the angel of death.” “Ah, his time has passed. He has fulfilled his destiny. It always mourns me when a friend passes on. Come, join me for an ale.” Osman took Marius to his house and there, Marius took off his heavy armor. “May I wash my face?” asked Marius. “Yes,” said Osman. “The bathroom is down the hall, to your right.” As Marius went to the bathroom, Osman headed to his kitchen and took out a fine bottle of wine. He took out two goblets and filled them up. He waited until Marius came out. When he did, Osman called to him. “I’m in the kitchen,” he yelled. “Okay.” Marius headed to the kitchen and sat down. He took the wine and drank some. “So what did he want you to come here for?” asked Osman. “He gave me this gem,” Marius said. Then he took out the green gem. Osman dropped his glass of wine, and shivered until he took a deep breath. “Marius, do you know what you can do with this gem? Horrible, horrible things. You coming with this gem here, it’s a very dangerous thing to do, Marius. But, since I admire your bravery, I will tell you what you should do. “Now listen carefully. You must head toward White Wolf Mountain. In the depths of this mountain, you must find the socketed rock that will fit this gem perfectly. Once that gem is in the rock, it will be powerless, and thus safe from evil. Here is a map showing where White Wolf Mountain is.” Osman handed Marius a papyrus scroll and he securely put it in his pocket. “You may stay the night,” Osman said. “But only this night. Tomorrow, at noon, you must flee toward the northern city of Varrock. I fear Zamorak’s knights will be going the non-desert passage, so you must take the desert passage. The dangerous rays of the sun will not hurt you if you take this.” He gave Marius a bottle of white lotion. Marius took it and put this in his pocket as well. “Might I ask what this lotion is?” “Yes. This lotion, when one square inch of your body is covered with this, it will ultimately protect your whole body from any rays of the sun.” “Ok. Thanks for the help, Osman. I’m going to go explore Al Kharid.” “Don’t stray too far! Remember, Zamorak’s knights might be out in the desert!” By Mclaren203 |
